Asanda is a multi award-winning journalist, broadcaster, producer and media innovator. From Ngqamakhwe in the Mnquma Local
Municipality, Asanda is the founder and director of mass media
communications boutique consultancy MagaqNACarta. She is also
co-founder and CEO of “Heartwork Pictures”, a production house
for untold African stories. She will be responsible for keeping us
informed and engaged!

Ayabonga is the Chief Commissioner of the International Trade
Administration Commission (ITAC). A development economist,
Ayabonga has published widely in the areas of industrial policy,
inequality, labour market policy, local government, and black
economic empowerment. He is the author of The Economy on Your
Doorstep: The political economy that explains why the South African
economy ‘misfires’ and what we can do about it. Ayabonga is a
member of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council, chaired by
President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Khaya joined the Eastern Cape Development Corporation as the Chief Investment Officer in June 2023. He is a seasoned finance and investment professional with over 18 years’ experience. He has 14 years experience in investment and risk management. He was previously Head of Portfolio Management for Unlisted Investments at the Public Investment Corporation (PIC) where he was responsible for more than R95 billion of client funds invested in private investments in South Africa and across the African continent.

A teacher by profession, Brian had a short stint in education
before exiting a career as a school principal. He opened his first
hardware store in 1992 in Ngqamakhwe. This initial store was
followed by two others in Tsomo and Butterworth, creating more
than 100 direct jobs for more than 25 years. Brian is a staunch
advocate of business unity in the Eastern Cape and the profiling of the province as an investment destination through the eyes of
organised business.

Zakhele is an accomplished telecommunications executive with
a proven track record of successfully leading teams and driving
strategic growth. Zakhele has more than 25 years of experience
in the telecommunications sector and has worked for companies
such as Eskom, EXI Telecomms (UK) and Siemens. For the last 21
years he has been with Vodacom. In the 21 years with Vodacom,
Zakhele has held various leadership roles as Executive Head
of Network in Limpopo and KZN, responsible for the expansion
of Vodacom’s network, and supporting the commercial and
enterprise business units. He has held a Managing Executive
role in Mpumalanga for the past five years, and is currently the
Managing Executive for Vodacom Eastern Cape region.

Speaker
Mbasa is a professional architect with a Master of Architecture
from the University of Pretoria. He is an experienced, capable, and
enthusiastic architect and built environment infrastructure specialist
with an exceptional appreciation for innovation and forward-thinking.
He boasts over 14 years’ experience in the built environment in the
private and public sectors. He is a former director of Holm Jordaan
Meago Architects and Urban Designers and managed its Rustenburg
office for a period of four years. Mbasa was previously appointed
as a Director of other Health Infrastructure delivery at the Gauteng
Department of Infrastructure Development (DID). He also served as
the Acting Chief Director: Health Infrastructure & Technical Portfolio
Services for a period of over three years.

Pierre is the chief executive officer of national dairy Sundale, which
is located at the East London Industrial Development Zone, as well as
Sundale Schreiber since 2012. Sundale and Sundale Schreiber employ
over 500 people and are supplied by over 30 dairy farms located in
the Eastern Cape. Sundale Schreiber is a world-class cheese facility
producing cheese for global quick service restaurant chains like KFC,
Burger King and Nando’s along with regional chains like Spur and
Rocomama. He studied commerce at the University of Cape Town,
majoring in Politics, Philosophy and Economics.

Billy is Isuzu Motors South Africa chief executive officer
and President of the National Association of Automotive
Manufacturers of South Africa. He has over 24 years experience
in the automotive, banking and FMCG sectors. He started
his career at Distell and then worked at SABMiller, Standard
Bank, General Motors and finally at Coca-Cola Beverages
South Africa/Abi. At his last role at Coca-Cola, he was General
Manager: Alternative Revenue Streams. Prior to this he was
General Manager for the Inland Region.

Tembinkosi was Commissioner at the South African Competition
Commission in Pretoria for 18 years until June 2022. He is an
admitted attorney and previously practised with Cheadle Thompson
and Haysom in Johannesburg in the areas of labour law, regulation
and health and safety. He has also spent a year working in corporate
finance & antitrust groups at Clifford Chance, New York office. He
occasionally teaches competition law at the University of Fort Hare,
Wits University and is a fellow of the University of Johannesburg’s
Centre for Competition, Regulation and Economic Development.
